Cranes / Lifting Capacity

  Clamshell type shipunloader, with 1.000 m/tons per hour unloading rate.
  Linear shiploader to load alumina, with 1.500 m/tons per hour
  Caustic soda unloading consisting of a fix 6" coupling system, to be fitted to
  the flexible hoses supplied and pumped by ships.

Wharf Structure

  252 meters long x 19,6 meters wide concrete platform.
  Mooring dolphins at distance of 50 meters from the west end of the wharf
  and a mooring buoy with a 30 ton sinker, located 100 meters from the
  west end of the quay and dredged to - 11,0 meters depth.

Note:

  For acceptance vessel older than 16 years needs certificates from Surveyor or Classification-Society
  (recognized by the Brazilian Navy Authorities) attesting its in good conditions to receive the cargo and
  be operated at Alumar Port.

Access Channel and Drafts

  The access channel is located between  the lsland of Sao Luis and Taua-Mirim.
  It is 3,0 miles long, with minimum width of 120 m, and dredged to -7,0 m.
  Turning basin has 400 m diameter and dredged to -7,0 meters depth.

Tides Phase and Height

  Vary along the access channel. Tidal time between low tide and high tide: 6(six) hour and 20 (twenty) minutes.
  Special care is required with the tides, which ranges from - 0,3 m to + 7,10m during spring tides. 
  Currents reaching 5 to 6 knots three hours after commencing ebb or flood tide.

Tugboats Service (See Towage Equipments)

  Tug services is compulsory for all vessels in Alumar Port.
  There are 2 units of 1830 HP, 28 TBP tugs and 2 units of 55 TBP
  stand-by for manoeuvering any time.

Fresh Water

  Available alongside the quay.

Bunkering

  Bunkering - Types of fuel : IFO all viscosities and MGO
  Delivery Method - Shore pipeline at Port of Itaqui only.
